Don Murray and idomainmedia.com announces the sale of Mycellphone.mobi for $15,000.
A few months back we had the opportunity to sell a few of our .mobi domain names to a company called Smartphone SP (Pty) Ltd), one those names was MyCellphone.mobi. Prior to to that our first sale to the company was Mymobile.mobi for $15,500 back in January. Not all of our sales are made public but I wanted to post about this because .mobi is such a debate with domainers and also felt that this would make a great first post to my new blog.
Many questions arise when it comes to .mobi names such as, are they worth anything? Will they be worth anything in the future? Will the iphone make the .mobi obsolete? I,m not certain and don’t put to much time into it as I think we will not know for certain for another 2 years. What I do believe is that .com will always be number 1.
I will take my profit on any .mobi and will reinvest the rest in whatever I feel will get me the greatest return which is most likely .com. I do have plans to test and develop some of my insurance related .mobi names that I feel could do very well in the future.
On the other side of this .mobi conversation, if your a big domain owner such as Rick Schwartz or Michael Berkens owning the .mobi extension is probably a good idea just in case it goes big. It’s such a small investment to them in relation to what they own, for other domainers it may not be the best idea to put all your eggs into one extension.
We will announce another 5 figure .mobi sale in the coming weeks.
